Tenun

The woman of Sasak rite of passage is when she successfully mastered the art of tenun, which makes her eligible for marriage. Tenun or weaving by hand is a laborious process where the woman must weave her cloth continuously for eight hours a day. A typical tenun cloth will take a week’s worth of labour whilst a more elaborate and bigger weave will take a month. Tenun cloths from my shop are sourced directly from the Sasak villages in Lombok and are 100% handmade.
